During my time studying for the N10-008 Network+ exam, I found many helpful learning sources. I will show you what helped most, and what to avoid when trying to study for the big exam. There is no one size fits all answer as to what to study, But these are the ones that I personally found very helpful. The first thing I realized early on in this journey was just the amazing amount of things covered in this certification. Just the amount of acronyms you need to know for this exam is staggering alone! No need to worry though, They are all provided by CompTIA themselves in the exam objectives. You NEED to download these exam objectives, Here is the link to download them. The exam objectives show you exactly what you need to know to pass the exam.

The biggest help for passing the exam was Professor Messer, He has a whole video playlist of 93 videos that covers everything you need to know for the N10-008. The best part about these videos is they are all FREE. Professor Messer also offers discounted exam vouchers, and much more on his website. I recommend watching all of these videos multiple times to absorb all of the information. The videos are pretty engaging and he provides real world examples for most of the things he talks about in the series.

One of the hardest things for me to understand was subnetting. Subnetting can be pretty confusing the first time you learn about it, but its ok! Network chuck has our back on this one, with his “You SUCK at subnetting” series on YouTube. This series helped me a lot. He teaches you how to convert from decimal to binary and how to easily calculate subnets. He also goes over NAT (Network Address Translation) and how we are able to have all of these devices connected to the internet even though the ipv4 address pool is completely exhausted.

Another way I find very helpful for studying is practice tests. Not all practice tests are born equal, and if you want the best ones you are going to have to pay for them. There are free N10-008 practice tests out there, but I find that they were not as helpful as the ones provided by Boson. The Boson practice tests were harder than the actual exam, which is great! If you can pass the practice tests, you will definitely be able to pass the real deal. Yes, they do cost money, but I can personally tell you that it is worth the money. The practice tests have a “Study Mode” that will explain all the answers, and why you got the question right or wrong. I wish I would have discovered these practice tests earlier in my Network+ journey.

The best advice I can give you is don’t give up. There will be days in which you feel like you have forgotten everything that you have learned, But its not true. I found that the more I studied the more this feeling go away and even made me feel more confident. The best way I found to keep myself studying was to go ahead and schedule the test. If you have the test scheduled, The less likely you are to procrastinate and postpone your studying. If you keep at it, and make studying a real priority, you will do just fine on the exam. Good luck with your exam, I know you can do it!
